By combining a reverb energy with the traditions of obscure 60s surf-punk, the Hypnotic IV proclaimed the trademark sound of hypnofonic.
Originating in Sacramento, California, the four-piece of Jay Lemen (guitar), Mike Clark (bass), Tony Cale (drums) and Andy Vaughan (guitar) first got together in 1997 without any use of a vocalist. Upon their debut EP Hypnotica! released in 1999, the addition of 16mm films were showcased into their live set. ~ Mike DaRonco
