Hailing from the megalopolis of São Paulo, Brazil, death metal extremists Horned God came together in 1998 and, while still calling themselves "Sacrifice", issued an E.P. entitled Revenge of Pain the following year.
However, even before performing their first local concerts, the original lineup of Érico Pedrosa (vocals), Daniel (guitar), Dario (bass), and Bruno Corrêa (drums) were then forced to assume the Horned God moniker due to another band's prior claim. A deal with independent Tumba Records was soon struck, and the band's debut album Absit (introducing new bassist Angelo) arrived in November 2001. This was followed by more regional touring in support of Brazilian heroes Krisiun, as well as international acts like Cannibal Corpse and Monstrosity -- after which Horned God obtained an international contract with France's Listenable Records. Guitarists Fabiano Penna (of local favorites Rebaelliun), and Hudy Hussui, were then brought on board for the recording of 2003's Chaos, Bringer of All Revelations. A notable step forward for the group, the album saw their corrosive black/death metal style favorably compared to the likes of Poland's Behemoth and Sweden's the Crown. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
