Silver Bells centers around G, C and D chords, yet still has some interesting touches that will give you a bit (but not too much) of a challenge. The song was written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans for the 1951 Bob Hope movie The Lemon Drop Kid. The song’s original title was “Tinkle Bell,” inspired by men in Santa suits ringing bells and Salvation Army bell ringers. When Livingston shared the song with his wife she pointed out the real meaning of the word tinkle and the title was changed to “Silver Bells.” It’s now an essential Christmas classic that kids change the words to every year. www.guitarnoise.com/lessons/silver-bells/
