As the years went by, and old members left and new members joined, the passion for extreme metal remained, and Grimmthurs' sound developed into a type of blackened death-thrash which draws on the members' love for thrash metal, black metal, and death metal primarily, but is also inspired by grindcore, melodic death metal, doom metal and traditional heavy metal. Thus, Grimmthurs' music is both dark, brutal and primitive on one hand and melodic and, in its own way, multi-faceted on the other.
