The notion of "art" and the idea of the "artist" are in constant change.
Many of the objects we view as art today were at one time not considered art. Often as times change and our values and norms shift; certain objects may appreciate in various ways and are linked to how we admire and become nostalgic of times past and times yet to come.

Which brings us to how we view what is art in the current sense. Art as a "parade" lacks certain definition. We demystify what Art is by describing it in a different way.-- "the use of skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic objects, environments, or experiences that can be shared with others" (Britannica Online) -- By what its not rather than what it is.

Art forms shape the attributes an artistic expression produces. Media influences form; these qualities contain constraints and limitations. The form of a work of art is defined by its media, and is not related to the outcome of work or the artist or the reactions of the audience.

A set of practices and styles create genres within a particular medium. The style an artist or their work takes becomes a method by which they are identified. This is how we initially try to define a work of art, in order to understand its value or lack there of.

The purpose of art at Gathering elements is at varying times both motivated and non-motivated; we seek to know what it is to be in harmony and have balance. We strive to experience the mysterious as a way to understand the universal truths of this life. Expression and communcation is what we do to feel human. Most importantly our Art is Motivated; to heal, to bring insight on a physcological level and to highlight certain social aspects of the society, and the world we experience.
