Swedish black metal band Gates of Ishtar was formed in 1994 by former members of the band Disrupt.
A demo entitled Seasons of Frost got them a deal with Finland's Spinefarm label, on which their debut album, A Blood Red Path, appeared. The band recorded its second album, The Dawn of Flames, for Invasion; it was picked up by Metal Blade for release in the U.S. in 1998. ~ Steve Huey
