Diego Felipe Gaitán Lozano was born in Ibague, Colombia.After graduating from high school enrolled in thePILOTO University in Bogota, Colombia as anArchitecture major. In 1999 Began his music studies a tSergio Arboleda University (before called MusicAcademy Centro de Orientacion Musical Cristancho),being his majors classical guitar with Prof. GustavoTorres, piano with Prof. Mary Horta, Jazz Guitar with Luis Fernando Cardona and Percussion with FrankCalzadilla.

After he finished his studies continued his musiceducation in 2004 at the INSTITUTO SUPERIOR DEARTES DE LA HABANA in Cuba (Havanna SuperiorInstitute of Arts). During the following three years he took private guitar lessons with Prof. Jesus Ortega andCounterpoint, Harmony and Introduction to Composition with Prof. Tulio Peramo and otherexceptional teachers in Cuba such as Elvira Fuentes,Martin Pedreira and Eduardo Martin, among others.

Over the past thirteen years he has participated innumerous masterclasses and festivals withinternationally renowned teachers. In 2004; masterclasswith Prof. Joaquin Clerch in the International GuitarFestival Havanna (Havanna-Cuba), 2005 Workshop Composition and Production from commercial music inthe Centro de Orientacion Musical Cristancho (Bogota,Colombia), 2006 Masterclass with Oscar Ghiglia at the fifth International Guitarren festival Compensar(Bogota-Colombia), 2007 Masterclass with Luis Orlandini at the Iberoamerikanischen Gitarre-Kongress (Ibague-Colombia), 2007 workshop for Production and Engineering from Digital Recordings in the Academia de Artes Guerrero (Bogota-Colombia).In 2013, he obtained his Bachelor of Music degree at the Hochschule fuer Musik und Tanz Koeln, Standort Wuppertal majoring in solo classical guitar, with the grade 1.2.

From 2006 to 2008 went back to Colombia and taught acoustic guitar and music theory for adults and children in the Academia de Artes Guerrero. In 2007 founded and directed the art school 'Artefacto' for children in poverty where he also gave guitar lessons(www.escuelaartefacto.blogspot.com ).

In 2008 published a guitar school book "Introduccióna la Guitarra , guitarra para niños y niñas" (Introduction to the guitar, guitar for boys andgirls). During his studies in Colombia he also played tiple in the Colombian music ensemble, under the direction of Ruth Marulanda, and Bandola in 'Arce'guitar orchestra. The concerts were performed in the most important concert halls in Colombia such as LuisAngel Arango Library and Bacata concert hall.

Since January 2010, he has been working at the music school Rotationstheater in Remscheid and at the music school Bergsiche Musikschule in Wuppertal as a guitar teacher. Inadition, he plays in Milchkaffe Trio, a chamber music project who won the firstprize at the International Festival Competition Folk-Modern Artist 2011 in Bulgaria and the WDR 's competition Open Auditions. Milchkaffe Trio has performed concerts in the Music Academy, Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal and in WDR Radio of Cologne.

He Also plays with the Latin American Quartet " Pa'los 3" who had played concerts in Germany, Belgium and Russia. In addition, He is a member of the Mandolin Concert Society Wuppertal headed by Detlef Tewes which has performed in major concert halls in Wuppertal, including the historical 'Stadthalle'.

His experimentation with music and graphics had led him to compose filmscores. From 2003 to 2008 composed the music for four short films; 2003 "H" by Nicolas Garzón, 2004 "Entreteniendo Adioses" by Nicolas Garzón , 2006 " ElLegado " by Andrés García Uyaban and 2007 "Femme " by Daniel Jimenez .

In 2007 he learned thetechnique of oil painting inthe Academia de Artes Guerrero and photography. Video and graphic design are among his hobbies.

Since 2012, he has been taking private composition lessons with the composer Thomas Beimel and since 2013, is completing his masters degree in ̈Komposition undVisualisierung ̈ at theFolkwang Univerität der Künste in Essen, Germany.

2013 schloss ich mein Studium an der Hochschule für Tanz und Musik Köln Standort Wuppertal im Fach Klassische Gitarre, Solo Profil und seit 2013 befinde ich mich im Masterstudium „Komposition und Visualisierung“an der Folkwang Universität der Künste.

Meine ständiges Interesse an meiner Fachausbildung erlaubte Mir, mein Curriculum zu verstärken. Daraus ergab sich dieMöglichkeit, als Dozent tätig zuwerden und Erfahrungen mit Kindern, Jugendlichen und Erwachsenen sammeln zu können. Von 2006 bis 2008 arbeitete ich an der Academia de Artes Guerrero (Guerreros Kunsthochschule) als Dozent für Klassische Gitarre, Akustische Gitarre und Musiktheorie in dem Erwachsenen- sowie Kinder Programm“Camaleon”. 2007 gründete ich aufgrund der sozialen Problematikin Kolumbien die Kunstschule “ArteFACTO” für Kinder in Armut. Dort arbeitete ich als Direktor und zusätzlich als Dozent für Gitarre.(www.escuelaartefacto.blogspot.com).

2008 veröffentlichte ich die Gitarrenschule “Introducción a laGuitarra, Guitarra para niños y niñas” (Einführung für die Gitarre,Gitarre für Jungen und Mädchen).Ab Januar 2010 arbeitete ich ander Musikschule Rotationstheaterin Remscheid-Lennep als Gitarren Dozent.

Während meiner Laufbahn als Gitarrist spielte ich sowohl Tiple in dem kolumbianischen Musik - Ensemble unter der Leitung von Ruth Marulanda, ebenso Bandola in dem Zupforchester “Arce”. Die Konzerte wurden in den wichtigsten Konzertsälen in Kolumbien wie „Luis AngelArango Bibliothek“, „Bacata Konzertsaal“, u.a. gegeben. 2003 spielte ich mit dem Gitarrenorchester „Sonantas Habaneras“ am Marti Platz unter der Leitung von Jesus Ortega. Darüber hinaus bin ich seit 2009 Mitglied der Mandolinen-Konzertgesellschaft Wuppertal e.V.unter der Leitung von Detlef Tees, mit der Konzerte in den wichtigen Konzertsälen in Wuppertal, inklusive der HistorischenStadthalle, gespielt werden.

Derzeit spiele ich mit dem Kammermusik-Projekt “MilchkaffeTrio” mit dem, den 1. Preis beim International Festival-Competition«Folk-Modern Artist» 2011 in Bulgarien und der WDR ́s Wettbewerbe Open Auditions gewonnen, mit Milchkaffe Trio werden Konzerte in den Musikhochschule, Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal und WDRFunkhaus Köln, gespielt, sowohl spiele ich mit dem Lateinamerikanische-Quartett “Pa ́los 3” Konzerte in Deutschland, Belgien und Russland.

Zurzeit nehme ich Privatunterricht für die Kompositionbei Thomas Beimel.

Bis heute habe ich 13 Kompositionen in derNational Direktorate of Copyright in Kolumbienregistrieren lassen und mein Experimentieren mitMusik und Grafik erlaubte mir schließlich, eigeneFilmmusiken zu konzipieren. Von 2003 bis 2008komponierte ich die Filmmusik von vier Kurzfilmen,2003 “H” von Nicolas Garzón, 2004 “EntreteniendoAdioses” von Nicolas Garzón, 2006 “El Legado” vonAndrés García Uyaban und 2007 “Femme” von DanielJimenez.

2007 erlernte ich außerdem die Technik derÖlmalerei in der Academia de Artes Guerrero.Fotografie. Video und Grafik-Design gehören ebenfallszu meinen Hobbys.
