EricaRoane is a small town Mississippi girl with a big voice.
At the same time, she is a wife and mother who has had hopes and dreams of becoming a professional singer one day. From an early age, EricaRoane knew she wanted to be a singer. She always enjoyed listening to music in the car, at church, and at home. In fact, while EricaRoane listened she sang along as a personal release. When she was 13, she started recording herself on cassette tape in the privacy of her bedroom. She mostly enjoyed singing country music back then. "I remember making my first microphone from a pair of half broken headphones. I broke the metal headband off and I duct taped the working ear piece to a stick of scrap wood and cut off the non-working one. I plugged it in the radio and tested it out, It Worked! I had my first mic" she says laughing. She always wanted to perform at community and school events but there was one big problem she had stage fright.
EricaRoane did not start overcoming her stage fright until the year 2000. When she got her first computer and found Pal Talk (a live voice and video chat community -online), it was there at that moment in a karaoke chat room when she finally let her voice be heard by an audience. "I didn't have karaoke tracks at the time, I just sang along with the original artist. Although, no one was physically watching me it was a big step out of my comfort zone" she explains.
In 2003, EricaRoane won $500.00 in her first karaoke contest at a local venue in her hometown. From there on out, she was done with stage fright and on the constant lookout for anywhere she could sing and be heard in hopes of being discovered. Since then, she has found many sites online and uses them to showcase her vocals. She has participated in several online and local singing contests and has went far in each one she chose to pursue.
In 2006, before she passed the age limit, EricaRoane finally got her big chance to audition for American Idol in Memphis, TN. Although, she was denied she keeps her passion for singing.
EricaRoane's latest accomplishment came in October of 2011 when she was contacted on YouTube by Gale Breen of The Gator Hole Recording Studio in Nashville, TN.He asked if she would be interested in working on a demo song and eventually hired her for a session to sing on the track: "Just Three Words" written by Murray Webster, Gareth Jones, and Francine Mitchell. She looks forward to working on similar projects in the future.
EricaRoane also has future aspirations of finding a songwriter(s) to collaborate with or maybe a blues band to join. While some may considered her an amateur, it would be wise also to consider her as a versatile vocalist who can sing rock, pop, country, or blues. "All I'm missing is a band! Singing is just a hobby for now, but I hope it can become more than that in the future" she says with enthusiasm. Until she is discovered, her plans are to continue perfecting her craft by, enjoying and having fun recording while also practicing her mixing skills on cover songs at home using karaoke backing music, uploading videos to her YouTube channel, entering contests, and promoting her vocals anywhere else possible.
