Chukwu Emeka - 'God has done wonderful things!' Clearly a fitting name for a man who in 2012 completed his first album whilst counselling, preaching and evangelising on the streets of Brixton.
However, for this man of God, affectionately known by his congregation as 'Pastor Olu', fulfilling the mission of God is his first and main priority; hence, 16 years in the making, ministerial appointments and a fifth child to add to his family, the album - Physical Pain, Spiritual Gain emerged.

...God certainly has done, and is still doing wonderful things!

His Story...

From a young and tender age Emeka always had a love for music. At the age of seven, after immigrating to England from Nigeria alongside his parents and younger brother, his singing ability was soon to be realised. At the age of eleven, he began stage performances as a singer in school.

At just thirteen years of age, Emeka formed his first band and was the only pupil at his Thamesmead secondary school, allowed to use their £30,000 state of the art studio... unsupervised! This was quite clearly a ground breaking opportunity, set to spiral into a notable singing career for Emeka.

Sparked by a series of life changing events, Emeka made an unexpected, but significant u-turn, leaving the band and the record contract, to pursue an eternal and spiritual covenant with Christ. The murders of Tupac Shakur in 1997 and Biggie Smalls some months later made Emeka certain that he would not end up in the same fate. So, from the seductions of secular music, bright lights and ambitions of 'stardom', Emeka turned to the Gospel.

He couldn't however, help but be reminded of the song he'd written - ‘On My Knees’ in which he sang: "I dedicate this song to you Lord; I should have dedicated all to you." Emeka embraced what he now knew to be a profound spiritual message of the need to devote his life to God, hence, the rebirth of his album. ‘Physical Pain’ became ‘Physical Pain, Spiritual Gain’; an album brimming with songs of healing, worship and praise.

Emeka had previously been baptised in 1986, but in 1997 he made his true and full hearted commitment to Christ and was baptised in the name of Jesus; this was the beginning of Emeka’s journey to find a good Church. In 1998 he was led to settle at 'Truth Temple Ministries, Brixton', and under God’s anointing was officially ordained as a Pastor (and Elder) in 2001.

In December 2004, on the very day of his wedding anniversary, the Ministry was handed over to Pastor Olu and in 2005, following a strong prompting from God, the Church was renamed 'Vessels of Treasure Fellowship' (VOTF). Taken from 2 Corinthians 4:7-10, this name change was more than apt for such a blessed and highly favoured ministry.

2014, following a strong leading from God, Emeka began to record his second album. Yet another scripture infused project, this album is a climax of the powerful message of the selfless Christ; crucified, buried and risen.

This project entitled: ‘Worthy Is The Lamb That Was Slain’, is a call to all, to surrender to the supreme will of God and to recognise their ultimate purpose, to be in line with God’s perfect will. Months in the studio recording, but as always, complete dedication given to the Word of God and the congregation, Emeka released his second album in October 2015.

'Emeka' - Pastor Olu, continues to pastor the Church, VOTF, along with his blessed and supportive wife, Evangelist Elizabeth Akinpelu. His determination, commitment, zeal and boldness for Christ have no doubt helped to propel him into God’s perfect will for his life. Whilst passionately and diligently operating in his calling, Pastor Olu continues to encourage the development and growth of VOTF. Through God's grace VOTF was blessed to celebrate its tenth year anniversary in 2014, under the anointed leadership of a man who truly is addicted to the ministry and set for the defence of the Gospel.
