Unlike other less fortunate children in the city at the time he was blessed to have the full family structure with a sister and both parents in his life growing up. Being no virgin to streets, and having experiences with some of the grimiest individuals to some of life's most affluent. Ellis is quick to give praise to the morals, values, and discipline that was demanded of him at a young age in his household by his parents.

Like the American Dream of many families in the Midwest, he watched his family rise to middle class and provide him the opportunity to see many things and experience much diversity before graduating high school.

"I distinctly remember my friends clowning me for rocking boat shoes and French cuffing my jeans while still bumping N.W.A. when visiting the hood." says, Ellis. But you can tell those disses never bothered him one bit and it's the less common path travelled that's actually made him into the cultured, well traveled, diverse, gentleman who is often referred to by friends and clients as "The Good Friend."
