Unusual to say the least, Dragons of Zynth somehow cut and paste together a dizzying fusion of jazz, punk, dub, funk, soul, and hard rock, a sound that's been referred to as "Afrotek." The band has earned a reputation for its performances, which the band itself calls "audio-physio-psychic." Based in Cleveland, Dragons of Zynth is fronted by New York City-bred twins Aku (vocals, keyboard) and Akwetey (vocals, guitar), who studied music with jazz musician Yusef Lateef.
The core of the band includes friends Bizza (drums) and Autry (bass). Acclaimed New York City group TV on the Radio quickly became fans and offered them an opening spot in 2005, while later lending a hand for the fall 2007 debut, Coronation Thieves. ~ Kenyon Hopkin
