It's a little after the fact, but the thought just occurred to me. Do socialists celebrate Independence Day? I'm not trying to start a flame war; it's a serious question. Independence Day is a celebration of the colonists declaring their independence from the British Empire, but those who think socialism is the way to go are declaring their desire to once again become dependent to an empire. The two seem incompatible to me.
