Many artists struggle to establish their musical identity, laboriously trying on different musical styles like a piece of clothing, looking to find what fits.
But there are others that emerge fully formed, in full command of their craft, their identity and their music. “DeeDee”Crudup fits firmly in the latter category. Her new album, NO REGRETS, is a captivating and moving debut that heralds the arrival of a gifted and significant talent, one whose music feels familiar in the best possible way, while striking out on its own territory.!

Born and raised in Southern Virginia, “DeeDee” began her musical journey at a young age, knowing early on that it was her destiny to perform, she dove right in. “I could sit for hours on end, with my fathers 224 headphones pressed to my brain, listening to the vinyls of some of the greatest creators of all time, and totally get lost in that”. Having been raised by her father, Herbert Marshall Crudup, a pianist, composer and vocalist, coupled with a musically extensive family history, has helped to weave her into an artist that can not only be heard, but can be felt. Music IS in her. !

Like many ambitious artists, “DeeDee” began her career doing back up vocals and writing for artists at local studios. She explains, “I started writing songs in my head, and it took my interest in music to another level. I was obsessed with interpreting what I was hearing in my head.” Almost immediately, she developed her vocal and writing skills and began playing local establishments and clubs, going through what she calls, “the typical post-dream lifestyle.” “I wasn’t interested in anything I was doing other than music, and I loved the wide-openness of my life.”!

It didn’t take long for many in the industry to notice her determination, which led her to work with such artists as Eryka Badu, Usher, Tyrese and many other international artists. “Being able to perform alongside such great talent…That stuck with me, this flow of emotion through a vocal & music…It changed me….”!

“Sometimes people are afraid to change,! But you gotta break that to evolve”! “DeeDee”
