New Jersey's Deteriorot were founded in 1990 by Paul Zavaleta (guitar/vocals), Will Kuberski (lead guitar), Jim Hoffman (bass), and Jon Brody (drums).
Their first EP, 1992's Ceremonies of Blasphemy, went unreleased after their record company went belly-up, and 1993's Manifested Apparitions of Unholy Spirits (featuring new bassist Chris Machado) fared no better due to their next label's financial woes. The band spent the better part of the '90s in limbo before re-emerging with a record deal, new bassist O.D. Lallo, and their first official album, 2001's In Ancient Beliefs. Founding guitarist Will Kuberski left the group soon after. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
