Filmmaker Derek Frey began his professional career in the entertainment industry on the ABC sitcom The Faculty.
He then assisted film director Tim Burton on Mars Attacks!, Sleepy Hollow, Planet of the Apes and Big Fish. Derek went on to Associate Produce Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. In 2009-10 Derek was Editor of the exquisite & extensive book The Art of Tim Burton and worked as Associate Producer on the box office hit Alice in Wonderland. 2012 proved a busy year with Derek serving as Associate Producer on Dark Shadows and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter as well as Co-Producer on the critically acclaimed Frankenweenie. Derek most recently Produced the Here With Me music video for The Killers and penned the screenplay for the Frankenweenie short film Captain Sparky vs. The Flying Saucers.Derek has directed a number of distinct works such as The Day the Dolls Struck Back, The Upper Hand and Creep. Aside from films he has created a number of music videos for Hawaii based Technical Difficulties including Briny Deep, Jimmy & Summer. Derek teamed up with Philadelphia based comedic troupe The Minor Prophets for the creation of 4th and 99 which was accepted into the 2007 Festival De Cannes. Frey and The Minor Prophets joined forced again in '08 with the creation of America's Game. That same year Derek directed the music video That’s What You Get for Scottish rockers The Mars Patrol. In 2012 Frey directed the music video epic Vampires Kiss/Blood Inside, for Goth-Rockers Witching Hour, which features a cameo appearance by director Tim Burton as a Vampire Slayer. The multi-award winning, The Ballad of Sandeep, marks Derek's third collaboration with The Minor Prophets.
