Every person that has seen her on stage share a unanimous decision: Demi Evans owns more than a voice, she is first of all an interpreter of light, but her sincerity and force of conviction with exuberance makes the most blasé audience leave their shell.
When Demi express herself she puts all of her energy into her music to serve her repetoire which is writen with four hands: herself and her accomplice and mentor Fred Morissey . As an unconditional fan of Nina Simone, she revendicate her militant and humanistic heritage.

Demi propose an unclassable style of music that`s transparent and direct, with a surprising blend of southern soul rock and commited folk pop, never forgetting the gospel and blues which were the props of her childhood in Texas. If this child of the black America sounds like a person outside of the musical scene which is often formated and reduced, it is because of her uncut personality and eclectism, the heritage of her unusual path. As she grew up in the heart of North Dallas in the 60’s, Demi Evans was exposed really early to the popular music building the diary of the afro American community.Waiting to give inspiration to her people, Demi helped her grandma by working after school every night at the Dallas Morning News, until the day grandma decided to follow the immagration wave and move like most of the afro Americans of the southern states to California.

In L.A. it’ s not by the musical way but on the fashion business that Demi built her name. Recruited by a modeling agency, she financed her studies of acting by lending her silhouette to some of the most famous designers of America. This career brought her the chance to move to New York in the mid 80’s. Her double hat of model and singer drove her to Europe where she shared her time between clubs and runways. She wore the colors of Jean Paul Gaultier and Christian Lacroix from Paris to Milano and Vienna. After Austria ,Germany became her new harbor, where Sven Vath, one of the most famous DJ’s over Rhin produced the music for her first single. The local success of her music with a strong color of techno house pushed Demi to return to America where she found quickly her place in the surroundings of Stevie Wonder, who in turn gave her counsel to find her voice by writing her own lyrics, an enlightening advice which changed definitely the way of her life.

Back again in Europe an adventure started when she joined such artists like Paco Sery, Jean-Jacques Milteau and Manu Galvin " Three great talented and generous men, offering an educational journey through the roots of the music ". The coming out of her album "Why Do You Run" on the Harmonia Mundi label and her second album "My America" on the famous label Dixiefrog lead her to the stages of some of the most important international festivals like Montreux, Montréal, Nice France, Hamburg…etc...

Her music allows her the opportunity to expose many faces: the one of perfectly inclassable artist, sincible interpreter , generous, open to all the problems of the world which she talk about with extreme frankness and a poetry with no make-up. On stage as on record her lyrics hit the bullseye, wonderfully served by an authentic voice and an insatiable determination.

This coming year of 2022 Demi will produce a brand new opus "BIG OLD BLUE" . This new album is a pure moment of music, sharing and enlightenment. After many episodes, Demi finally feels ready to reach her objective of her childhood in the ghetto of Dallas by serving the others and touching them with the grace of her talent.

This is now the evidence, DEMI EVANS is definitely an inclassable artist !
