Hello. My name is Demeter, which means "mother earth", and I am the goddess of corn, grain, and harvest.
I am what makes the crops grow each year. I am the goddess of earth, agriculture, and fertility.

I am the daughter of Cronos and Rhea, and I have a daughter of my own named Persephone. Persephone, my pride and joy, was taken to the underworld when Hades claimed her as his wife. I became depressed and bitter, and I killed all harvest to create a dark and dismal atmosphere. Persephone was brought back to her senses to return to Earth by Zeus, but Hades took her back to the underworld for four months a year. During those four months, I kill all harvest again and create winter. Persephone is what inspires me to keep my harvesting alive. When she is gone, the crops will disappear.

When I recreate the harvest, I am apart of the Eleusinian Mysteries! This is a harvest celebrated every five years, so the human souls can be reborn.
