'We cry for the transcendent, for the simple.
The weight of routine crowds and crushes. The search for meaning is buried in the senses.' Rose and Sweetbriar

Be in the world, not of it.

What is an artist?

An artist is an Antevasin, which is a sanskrit word for 'one who lives on the border. The antevasin is an in-betweener, a border-dweller. One who lives in sight of both worlds, but looks toward the unknown other. Focusing consciousness in higher realms while occupying physical form, the antevasin (grounds) higher vertical consciousness into third dimensional horizontal illusion, raising (ascending) awareness of that illusion, and lifting its veil, thereby increasing the frequency of the earth's vibrational field.

Art is Mystery. The closer you get to the Mystery the farther the Mystery recedes.

Art is the Great Revealer, opening to the senses an inner world of meaning to an outer world of form. It is the sense of the Sacred and the Soul's journey through this world of form that can define art. Art is raised from allegory to identification where image is expressed in the fire of creation. We are all part of this spiritual process. It is how these images are conveyed and woven together and with what intent that determines the force and quality of perception. The clearer the vision the more compassionate the response.

Art can affirm this process of Spirit in form. It is the identification of the self with all selves and the Unity of Life underlying the human condition, especially those suffering in the face of violence and oppression, that can motivate the work. Through the power of image, art offers a way out of limitation by demonstrating through recognition that as we think and as we image, so we become.

Art uplifts and heals us by being receptive to these inner energies. Through the sense of extended vision, we come to realize that we are all part of a Greater Whole where the seen and the unseen become one and a link is established. It is this identity of connection and commonwealth of shared vision that the artist can render in each of his works, by projecting images that renew and expand the Spiritual in the world of form. - D.
