Baltimore-based alternative metal band Compression formed in the spring of 1993 around singer Greg Scelsi; guitarist Paul Joyce, bassist Michael Albi and drummer Lou later fleshed out the most long-standing line-up.
The band released its first demo at the end of the year, with three more demos following through the fall of 1995. The first official Compression release, a three-way split disc with Last Rites and No Compromise, appeared early the next year, with the limited CD Our Sun Bleached Bones issued that November. The group's self-titled full-length debut was first released in the spring of 1997, and subsequently reissued several times; the Battle of Ants EP followed in 1999. ~ Jason Ankeny
