CLOSTERKELLER is the most renowned dark rock band in Poland. "Gothic" is really too narrow a description, though, as the band's darkly atmospheric sound touches on metal, pop, psychedelia, and electronic music. Though its lineups have varied over the years, Closterkeller's core and leader is singer Anja Orthodox, one of the most original and charismatic figures in Polish music. Her voice is dramatic and versatile, with a range that's both emotional and technical. But not only her unique and beautiful style of singing, her original interpretations of the lyrics and the music, but also her strong personality, in private life as well (a fact which often causes opinions such as "controversial") make her one of the most interesting Polish artists. She is also an author of unusual, very poetic but often spicy lyrics, which make her belong to the group of the most brilliant poets of rock. Also in their English versions, which are presented to foreign concerts of the band.

During CLOSTERKELLER'S career the band became to be perceived as a cult group in the alternative musical scene in Poland. The band gained enormous popularity among Polish audiences of all kinds. Their music is appreciated by young and old: metal-admirers and gothic-lovers as well as pop music fans. There is no doubt that the reason is the stylistic diversity of their songs.

Since their debut CLOSTERKELLER'S music has evolved from morbid cold wave sounds, an infatuation with metal, to a psychedelic and a little dizzy pop rock and even dark techno music. This whole building stands proudly on a powerful, gothic foundation. Despite this musical variety CLOSTERKELLER has an easily distinguishable characteristic style and the band stands out in the prime class of Polish rock music. It’s worth mentioning that they kept their position as a famous and popular band in spite of rather unpopular features of their music.

CLOSTERKELLER is also well known for their great live gigs. They have performed on the biggest scenes in Poland, also supporting such stars as Jethro Tull, Cocteau Twins, Clan Of Xymox, Diary Of Dreams, Lacrimosa or Paradise Lost. Their concerts are fantastic performances - a mixture of a spontaneous rock show, a poetic atmosphere and a mystic ritual (which also makes them close to gothic rock bands). The musical perfection of the performance, the brilliant compositions and arrangements and simply the beautiful music make their concerts unforgettable experiences!

CLOSTERKELLER'S discography consists of 15 albums (including 9 studio albums and 2 live DVD’s). Like these earlier, their two latest release, “Aurum” (2009) and "Bordeaux" (2011) (Universal Music Poland) got enthusiastic reviews from both fans and musical press with highest notes the most important music magazines in Poland.

CLOSTERKELLER to czołowy przedstawiciel nurtu tzw. "klimatycznego" rocka na polskiej scenie. W ciągu swojej kariery zespół zyskał miano formacji kultowej na polskiej scenie. Grono słuchaczy Closterkeller jest bardzo szerokie. Jest ceniony zarówno przez starszych jak i młodszych fanów pięknej muzyki od gotyku przez rock do nawet popu. Bierze się to niewątpliwie z dużej różnorodności stylistycznej utworów zespołu. Od czasów debiutu muzyka grupy przeszła ewolucję od chorych, zimnofalowych brzmień, poprzez flirt z ciężkim metalem, aż do psychodelicznego, nieco "zakręconego" pop-rocka. A cała ta muzyczna budowla dumnie stoi na potężnym, gotyckim fundamencie.

Liderką zespołu jest Anja Orthodox - jedna z czołowych, polskich wokalistek rockowych, obdarzona charakterystycznym głosem, charyzmą i manierą wokalną, która uczyniła z niej wzorzec do naśladowania dla wielu młodych wokalistek także i poza granicami Polski. Teksty Anji - mroczna i pełna metafor poezja stanowią także bardzo ważny atut zespołu Closterkeller. Także i w swych angielskich wersjach, które prezentowane są na zagranicznych koncertach grupy.

Mimo tej różnorodności Closterkeller posiada swój własny, łatwo rozpoznawalny, charakterystyczny styl i jest zespołem wyróżniającym się od innych w pierwszej lidze polskiego rocka. Od wielu lat niezmiennie plasuje się w czołówce najpopularniejszych grup rockowych, pomimo że gra muzykę nieco trudniejszą i bardziej ambitną, a jego najmocniejszą stroną są specyficzne ciężkie i mistyczne utwory.

CLOSTERKELLER słynie również ze wspaniałych koncertów. Grupa grała na największych scenach w Polsce, również supportując takie zagraniczne gwiazdy, jak: as Jethro Tull, Cocteau Twins, Clan Of Xymox, Diary Of Dreams, Lacrimosa czy Paradise Lost. Występy na żywo to mieszanka spontanicznego rockowego koncertu oraz podniosłej, poetyckiej, niemalże mistycznej atmosfery (co czyni je podobnymi do koncertów zespołów gotyckich). Perfekcja wykonania, doskonałe kompozycje i aranżacje oraz po prostu piękna muzyka czynią z nich niezapomniane wydarzenia!

Zespół ma w dorobku już 15 płyt (w tym 9 studyjnych i 2 koncertowe wydawnictwa DVD).
