Brief personal background- Clint Kimble

I was born in Durban SouthAfrica in 1969. I was raised in Durban and Bloemfontein an spent 4 years in theUnited Kingdom. I trained as an accountant and started a very successfulpractice after a number of years in the corporate world.

My conversion – ClintKimble

I lived my whole life forpleasure and money. My only spiritualinfluence was my grandmother she made sure I heard the Gospel as I was sentevery Sunday to Sunday School and I really hated it. However it left a lastingimpression on me because I can still remember how I was taught that Jesus canforgive sin through the story of the paralytic in the Gospel of Mark. I endedup in later life a committed atheist. The church and its members were seen as mentally ill in my eyes. As Igrew what was to be a large successful accounting practice, I finally hadreached what I thought was the pinnacle of my life. I could buy anything go anywhere yet I wasleft with an empty feeling inside. Atabout the same time I had dealings with Christians because I was consultingwith an NGO. They were a strange bunch all of them had degrees fromuniversities yet they were working with street kids and homeless people. I also met a girl called Taryn she was aChristian and she was so different from me. She treated those who I considered beneath her so well and was kind toall.

Taryn said she could notdate me because I was not a Christian. Iwas totally destroyed and because I wanted to be near her I decided to go tochurch. The church was not a bible believing Church yet by Gods providenceI started to read the Bible with a evangelical in that church. We looked at Romans together and when we gotto the part where Pauls says but now a righteousness by faith has been madeknown. I wanted Jesus because I knew howmuch I had angered God. Jesus was mySavior and my Lord.

Christian Life

Taryn and I were married andwe have 2 beautiful children named Daniella and Ethan. It has been a greatprivilege leading this family as we all desire to live our lives under the LordJesus.

Turn and I took the decisionto sell my accounting practice and enter full-time ministry. The funds that wewere able to raised from the sale of the practice funded a two-yearapprenticeship at Christchurch Glenwood. It was during this time that I firstmet Ray Brown. He was on the ministry team at Glenwood. During myapprenticeship I met with Ray on a weekly basis to study the Bible and praytogether. He also provided help and input as I learnt to preach. While thecriticism was often difficult to accept I know now that without it I would nothave grown as a preacher.

Our plans after the two-yearapprenticeship were to study at George Whitfield college. However inopportunity arose to help out at another church in Durban. As a family we decidedthat it would be helpful to our future ministry to involve ourselves in thischurch. At this stage I was still meeting with Ray on a weekly basis and he wasgiving me valuable biblical advice in to lead this struggling church.

After helping the church totransition to a new leader we were poised once again to come to GeorgeWhitfield college. However God had other plans for us. Ray had now become theminister in charge at Christchurch Glenwood. Both Ray and the elders of thechurch at the time felt that it would be beneficial to the church for us as afamily to return to the church and partner with the Browns in leading thechurch. We did this for 2 years and during that time I received invaluabletraining and was able to improve my preaching dramatically.

One of the exciting thingsthat I did while involved at Christchurch Glenwood was to head up the studentministry on the campus of the University of KwaZulu Natal. While I had beeninvolved as an apprentice in this ministry it was the first time that I had theopportunity to lead a cross-cultural ministry. Here I feel the Lord waspreparing us for what we plan to do after George Whitfield college.

During the 2 years that wewere at Christchurch Glenwood we were faced with financial challenges and appliedto the Gospel partnership trust for funds. They graciously supported us for thetwo-year period that we were involved at Glenwood.

During my time atChristchurch Glenwood I preached once a week, was involved in the leader'straining, teaching Bible study leaders, leading bible studies and helping withthe general administration of a busy church.
