Formed in2008, Brentwood’s hometown band The Citations,have been Rockin' the Blues with passion for five years now! The trio has developed quite a following,playing all over the Bay Area, from local bars and nightclubs, to festivalstages throughout California, adding many new fans to the fold of The Citationsfamily! Performances included theBrentwood Cornfest, Brentwood PAL Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival, and Pittsburg Seafood Festival, to name a few ofthe stages they have played locally helping the band earn a reputation forputting out a high energy, heartfelt, Blues-Rockin' good time!With PaulHurt on vocals and guitar, Billy Vance on drums and vocals and Brad Sprague onbass and vocals, the guys have dedicated themselves to carrying on the bluesand roots-rock tradition of BB King, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, The AllmanBrothers Band and Stevie Ray Vaughan (To name a few!), while bringing their ownpersonality and style through original songwriting and the occasional re-workingof a classic song.
In 2012, TheCitations released their debut CD, “You Can't Outrun The Blues”, throughtheir own independent label, HywaySong Records, and are currentlycompleting their follow-up CD “West of Austin”.
2013 has kept the band busy performing and recording along with a few events they tookthem out of their comfort zone. Theywere invited to participate in “The Hard Rock Rising 2013” talent search inJanuary, out of over 1600 bands that were invited The Citations made it to thenumber 11 position.
The band also dedicates a number of its performances throughout the year to worthycauses, such as Relay For Life, The Kenyon Youngstrom Foundation and Brentwood PAL, among others.
More thanjust a band, The Citations are a brotherhood that find joy in living life,working together and making music that comes from the heart! As a result, the band has continued to winnew fans that make up the ever-growing Citations Family. The greatest fans ever!
