Cian Boylan is recognised as one of Ireland's leading pianists, working across many musical genres including jazz, rock & pop, and film & theatre, and collaborating with established Irish and international artists.
An extremely versatile musician, he is equally at home as a jazz and session pianist as he is arranging and composing for orchestra, big band and smaller ensembles. He is also an experienced musical director and published songwriter and composer.

He was born in Dublin and began studying piano at the age of six. While studying classical music, he was also exposed to all kinds of music by his parents, in particular jazz and popular music. He got his first professional job at the age of fourteen and soon became established on the Irish music scene.

After graduating with honours from Trinity College Dublin, he initially began a business career while in parallel building up his reputation on the music scene in Ireland. Soon music took precedence and he quit to concentrate on his music career. Since then he has gone on to working on the forefront of the music business both in Ireland and internationally. He has released two jazz albums under his own name and is credited on over one hundred other studio recordings.

He has performed and recorded with many leading Irish and International pop and rock artists, including: Van Morrison, Duke Special, Camille O'Sullivan, Imelda May, Declan O’Rourke, Cathy Davey, Jerry Fish, Mary Coughlan, Juliet Turner, Westlife, Aslan, Paddy Casey, Vyvienne Long, RTE Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Riccardo Cocciante, Robin Gibb, Sister Sledge, and LeAnn Rimes.

As a pianist he has performed in some of the most prestigious venues and concert halls around the world, including Europe, USA, Russia, China, and the Middle East.

He holds a first class Masters Degree in Jazz Music Performance from The Dublin Conservatory of Music. He studied Film Scoring with the late Don Brandon Ray, head music supervisor at ABC and founder of the UCLA Film Scoring course and was also selected to take part in the prestigious Moonstone Film Composers’ Workshop in 2005. He has also studied with Golden Globe nominee, the great Hollywood composer Christopher Young (Spider Man, The Rum Diaries, etc).

When not touring or performing, he lectures in Advanced Music Theory in BIMM University, Dublin.
