After flirting with major-label MCA, Chum released a lone 1996 album through Century Media entitled Dead to the World. While in the process of recording a follow-up, they were dropped by their label, which led to the eventual dissolution of the band. Lancaster continued as the sole founding member and, after a series of lineup changes, Chum effectively ended in 1999. However, to the delight of fans, they would return over a decade later. In 2011, the band reunited for a tour and, inspired by the new energy, began recording once again. For the 20th anniversary of their debut, the band returned in 2016 with plans for that sophomore album, two decades in the making. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia & Neil Z. Yeung
