Rapper, record producer, and poet Rafala Soul was born Martez Rafael Kirkland. He was born into a single parent home. He knew his father but did not have a solid relationship with him as he grew to become a man. Raised by a great man Robert Richardson Jr. Martez was able to grow with a strong foundation by two strong parents that kept him focus.

He later moved to Okinawa Japan at the age of 15 where he begin his music career.
