For some children it was that first tape recorder or CD player.
The kindergarden production of „Springtime Is Here“.
The one where they dressed as the sunflower and sang quirky songs about the coming of sun and flowers. For Charlee Quest, it was that microphone with the two pedals. „One was a clapper pedal, the other one was a laughing pedal, so I was basically able to get my own 'crowd' there,“ recalls the South American born Charlee of his childhood. Eventually losing touch with that connection, a Grandmother's gift of a guitar [„...who´s dream was to see me become a great artist“] for his 15th birthday rekindled the flame. Joining the Marching Band a year later and learning Saxophone would become Charlee's fondest memories. The thought of marching the streets playing with 60 musicians simultaneously only drew him deeper in love with music calling the experience „undescribable“.
Following school, the singer/songwriter formed a band with a few like-minded schoolmates. He began writing frequently and even stepping out front spearheading the band's choreography. Though the fuel for this all was fun and no more, it quickly became legitimately successful turning an industry ear or two (or twenty). Jumping straight from the small circuit to the shark tanks, He signed a major contract which didn't quite pan out as expected. Sour taste in mouth, Charlee grew apart from his dreams; passing on other offers and settling for a life more contemporary and writing freelance for others artists. Proving a not-to-be-shaken habit, Charlee would ultimately stick his musical nose out and to no avail (or surprise) catch the musical „bug“ once again.
In a casting call one can only describe as „fate and great timing“, Charlee pinned down his entire rhythm section nearly on the first go around. Now with the BBL's (BackBeat Lovers), that is... Philo (drums/percussion), Kevin André (keys, background vocals), Clemens (bass), and Lorenzo (guitar), Charlee is primed, ready and diving head first back into the musical life.
„Our music is a soul for which our passion is a melody.“
Artistic words indeed which describe what is for Charlee Quest and Co. an absolute reality. The veteran Singer/Songwriter, Charlee Q[uest] brings not only his laid back charm to the stage. In tow are 10 years of experience in the Music industry (to include a major label contract) as well as a number of Top 10 U.S. Hits to his credit. With all new material composed by Charlee himself alongside bandmate Kevin André, R&B, Soul, Jazz all seem to fall short of labeling what can only be called Damn Good Music. Touuching on the likes of Bruno Mars and [say...] Mayer Hawthonre with just a touch of Latin flair, Charlle Quest & the BBL's aim to please and entertain and with no shortage of fun [or talent] to be seen, Charlee Q is back for the first time and ready to see you from the stage grooving to his beat.
