Smokey Daniels is a Haitian-American, Boston born hip hop artist who's been doing music since he was 16 years old.
He started with poetry and was always a person who found an excuse to rhyme words together. He never really thought of himself as a Hip-Hop artist until high school. A close friend of his was a part of a music group and he brought Smokey to the studio to check out what he does. Smokey instantly fell in love with the craft of making music. Smokey thought that any beat he heard was a direction towards a unique story to tell. Ever since then, Smokey has been trying to tell stories and become creative in the way he tells it.Smokey has been influenced to become the best at what he does by studying some of the best entertainers and innovators. Not just with music, but every aspect of entertainment. Some of his influences come from Andre 3000 from Outkast, Big Pun, Eminem, Big L, Michael Jackson, Prince, Elvis, Kiss, Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Johnny Depp, Jackie Chan, Charlie Chaplin and the list goes on. As you can see, Smokey doesn't believe that only studying musical entertainment is the key to becoming the best entertainer, it's studying all the greatest entertainers in all forms of entertainment.
Smokey is the second child of three brothers and he wasn't raised in a very diverse musical environment. His parents were deeply religious people, so all he heard around the house was gospel music and if he was lucky, R 'n' B. The only influence of rap or hip hop he received was from his older brother, and even at that time, Smokey wasn't very interested in rap, he thought he was more suited for singing because of his light voice. He's thankful his voice became deeper and, in his words, sexier.
Smokey's goal in music is to become one of the greats and influence music to become more about creativity and imagination instead of just guns, drugs, and clubbing. Smokey becomes his own embodiment of what music should strive to become. He has a vision that music will save the world one day, and he wants to be a part of that movement. Smokey Daniels has a big dream and he's determined to make it come true.
