Bruce Huss: Guitarist-Singer/Songwriter.

The first thing people say when they hear Bruce's music is: "Boy, can that guy play guitar." His three CDs of original music are filled to the brim with meaty instrumentals and cleaver, feel-good heart tugging lyrics, wrapped in his fresh, Kansas perspective.

The title cut from his latest release, Migration Day, is about a hawk that grew up in his backyard. It reflects that we’re all trying to get strong enough for the next challenge.

His songs, Acoustical Romance and My Father’s Son, have scored songwriting awards at music festivals. He’s also been a featured artist on the FolkAlley Alleycast, a podcast showcasing performers from around the world. Plus, he was “artist of the month” on K&K Sound’s web site, a contestant in the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championships, and a winner at the Kansas State Fingerstyle Championships. His first CD, View From the Top, his second, Patience, and now Migration Day, are all original and all impressive, especially for anyone who appreciates a good guitarist.

His name is familiar to the locals, because he worked 13 years as an award winning news reporter/photographer at Wichita’s KSNW-TV, where he crafted over a thousand feature stories in a special segment called Huss & Company. “I think writing a good news story is much like writing a good song, except the news had to be factual, and I can lie as much as I want to in a song,” joked Bruce.
