An oddly named punk rock act formed in 1992 by two pre-teen friends with a shared passion for the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and Die Toten Hosen, the Broilers specialized in that most basic and straightforward style of the genre, Oi!, and went on to a modicum of success -- mostly within the European punk circuit.
Their first single, "Schenk Mir Enie Blume" hit the streets in 1996, and was quickly followed by the group's debut full-length, Fackeln im Sturm a year later. A series of EPs and split releases followed, which helped build up enough of a buzz for the band to land a deal with respected punk label People Like You Records. With a deal in hand, the Broilers then began work on what would be their third album, Vanitas. After said album's release in 2007, the band released a limited-edition EP -- Ruby Light & Dark -- in 2008. ~ Chris True
