Profile of a BluegrassTrio

WILDFLOWERS, a bluegrass trio formed in 2013, performs throughout Lane County. The Band plays music from traditional bluegrass and country , to the songs of the Grateful Dead. Additional musicians and vocalists often join the trio.

Recent venues for WILDFLOWERS include the Daffodil Festival in Junction City, the WolfShadow Arena and Rainsong Vineyard Artisan Show and sale in Cheshire. Additionally, they have played retirement centers: such as the Waterford Grand, Willamette Oaks, and Sheldon Park Assisted Living in Eugene. They have also performed at the Alvadore Days, in Alvadore;the Pizza Research Institute and Friendly Street Cafe , andTsunami Bookstore in Eugene. The band also have played at various fundraising events.

Machiko, Bob, and John makeup the trio.

Machiko – guitar and vocals. An avid bluegrass fan in Japan, Machiko came to the U.S. In 1994 to study Linguistics at the University of Oregon. She met Bob in 1st. Year Chinese class, but it wasn't until ten years later that she met Bob again at a BBQ and she suggested they get together to play music.

Bob – mandolin and vocals.Bob is a rock-n-roll drummer and a mandolin player, who was encouraged by Machiko to try bluegrass music. So inspired, Bob has now composed some of his own bluegrass songs.

John – bass guitar and vocals. John, a professional heavy metal bass player from Idaho, and Bob are old friends. When John moved to Eugene, Bob urged him to join WILDFLOWERS.

And there you have it...3 WILDFLOWERS growing in the fertile fields of Bluegrass.
