Lunacee - Artist, Dancer, Cultural Educator

Lunacee represents the Cree tribes of Papaschase and Frog Lake First Nations and began performing Powwow and Métis dancing at 6 years old. Growing up, she was also surrounded by several First Nation Hip Hop performing crews and became inspired to explore the art of B-girling. She since has trained under the guidance of several Hip Hop pioneers and mentors and has been blessed to tour, teach, and perform internationally with various companies and organizations.

Lunacee believes in maintaining a balance between her own Native culture and the Hip Hop culture, and is involves herself in community work as a means to help educate and pass down the knowledge to the next generation. "An elder once told me that: 'to live in this modern society and uphold our native culture, its like walking with a moccasin on one foot and a Nike shoe on the other.' I choose to showcase this idea through the blending of my art styles and sharing this perspective with others"

Currently, Lunacee studies at Mount Royal University in pursuit of her Social Work Degree and continues to travel to various schools, First Nations communities and special events, to promote living healthy lifestyles through dance and culture.
