One of the wide-ranging acquistions of the British Concrete label (alongside France's Aleem, New York's Crooklyn Clan and London's Dub Pistols), the mysterious Dutch duo known as Basco explore similar ground, repositioning acid breakbeats with occasional trip-hop inspiration.
The group debuted with two singles on Holland's Psst Records, and then signed a distribution contract with Concrete for their third single, "The Beat Is Over." The track also appeared on the third volume in The Trip-Hop Test series, earning Basco an American deal through Sm:)e. The duo's debut EP, Nuff Beats, appeared in early 1997. Basco has also recorded as Klatsch! and the Wise Men. ~ John Bush
