Stan Lee may be gone,
and his reign as the cosmic cameo king is drawing to a close, but the creator of so many classic superheroes has one more surprise for fans.
The footage dates back to the origins of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008’s Iron Man, when Lee appeared on the the red carpet outside a concert hall for a Stark event and is mistaken by Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) for Hugh Hefner.
It will also include “the deleted cameo, the first cameo he did on Avengers, when you two were in the cafe outside,” Feige said, indicating Chris Evans, whose Captain America takes flak from the old-timer.
Each of the actors had a story about meeting Lee on the set or at the premiere of these movies. “The amazing thing is, just as you’ve all said, he said the right thing to the right person at all times,” Feige told them. ” Every interaction was what one’s dream interaction with Stan Lee would be.”
Feige even has his own. “He left me a voicemail once, in 2004 or something,” he recalled. “I’d never gotten a voicemail from Stan Lee, and I kept it for years until I think the phone disintegrated. But it was: ‘Fearless Feige! Stan Lee here….’ I listened to it over and over and over. That’s what he was always like — always supportive.”
