FOMO leads to YOLO in the first trailer for Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut Booksmart.

The preview (above) introduces a pair of wide-eyed teens, Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) and Molly (Lady Bird‘s Beanie Feldstein), as they confront the end of their childhood on the eve of their high school graduation. Though they’ve maintained stellar grades and healthy collegiate prospects for the future, they decide to give their lacking social lives a jolt of energy to close out their high school run as academic superstars. Thus, Amy and Molly embark on a quest to squeeze four years of partying into a single evening before they begin their adult lives.

Activating their plan, however, proves challenging. Outside of innocently filling a fanny pack with chap stick, hand sanitizer, and mace (all of the party essentials), the ladies eventually dabble in increasingly risky activities, like commandeering a pizza delivery car while wearing ski masks and ultimately ending up in handcuffs.

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay executive-produced the project, which Wilde directed from a script written by Katie Silberman. Jason Sudeikis, Billie Lourd, Will Forte, Noah Galvin, and Lisa Kudrow have supporting roles.

Booksmart held its world premiere Sunday at the 2019 SXSW Film Festival, where it earned ecstatic reviews from critics ahead of its May 24 theatrical release date.
