One of the stars of Netflix’s smash documentary Fyre has admitted he “begged” for his infamous story about oral sex to be dropped from the film.

In the documentary about the notoriously chaotic Fyre Festival, the event’s producer Andy King tells how he was prepared to give oral sex to a customs official in exchange for allowing containers of Evian water to be imported onto the Bahamian island.

King had been asked to perform the sex act by Fyre organizer Billy McFarland. In the event, the water was allowed onto the island anyway.

King has now revealed how he tried demanding for the story not to be included in Fyre. He told TMZ: “I went to the producers and said: ‘Listen, I just talked with my lawyers and some of my creative team. They said “Andy, you’ve got to pull that thing. That cannot go in the documentary.” But when I sat with the director, he said: “No, Andy, you don’t understand. Without that scene, there isn’t a documentary.”‘

The producer explained how his life had dramatically changed since Fyre was shown, saying he was now glad the anecdote had been left in. King said: “I probably wouldn’t be here today if it was taken out. How I’ve become this social media hero over a situation like that, I’m in total shock. But I’m riding with it.” 

King claimed he is now shooting a movie in March, and has offers for three different TV show concepts. He said he was shocked at how popular Fyre has become, saying: “I didn’t think anybody watches documentaries.”
