The singer attended the concert and also stole Jack's watch

Tom Waits has made a rare public appearance, attending Jack White’s gig in San Fransisco on Thursday (August 16).

The ‘Rain Dogs’ singer attended White’s Boarding House Reach’ tour, his first public appearance since he duetted with Mavis Staples in September 2017.

Prior to that, Waits appeared on David Letterman in 2015, shortly before the long-running talk show came to an end. In 1983, Waits made his debut on the show and appeared on Letterman ten times during his career. Waits also performed a new song during his appearance, ‘Take One Last Look’.

A post on ‘@officaljackwhitelive’ giving more details about Waits’ visit to Jack White’s gig. It read: “Tom waits came to Jack White’s performance in San Francisco and made all the musicians in the band confirm and pay testament to their love of the religion of music.”

“He also stole jacks watch. A million thanks and tributes to Saint Tom from Jack and the band. #jackwhite#tomwaits #sanfrancisco”

The day prior to Waits’ visit, White performed a free gig at the Telsa Factory in Fremont, California for employees of the factory. Tesla workers received an email with the subject line: “You’re invited: A Special Performance Tomorrow at the Fremont Factory.”

White has been a fan of Telsa for years, previously calling their CEO and co-founder Elon Musk “the Henry Ford of the 21st century.”

It was announced earlier this year that Waits was due to appear in the Cohen Brother’s next movie, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and that Waits was reissuing and remastering his first seven albums.

The albums – released through Elektra Asylum Records in the 1970’s – include 1973’s Closing Time; 1974’s Heart of Saturday Night; 1975’s Nighthawks at the Diner; 1976’s Small Change; 1977’s Foreign Affairs; 1978’s Blue Valentine; and 1980’s Heartattack & Vine.
