She wants to release something "palpable" in the future
Frances Bean Cobain has discussed her music plans after previewing her first original song last week, also saying that she “hopes” her late father Kurt Cobain would be “proud” of her.
The model, artist and daughter of Cobain and Courtney Love shared a since-deleted snippet of an untitled song last week, seemingly to mark the anniversary of her father’s death.
Speaking to E! on Sunday (April 8), Frances said that she regards herself as both a musician and a visual artist. She also stated that her recently released song was not an “official release”, but that she wants to release something “palpable” in the future.
“With regards to music, I don’t want to pigeon hole myself and say I am a musician or a visual artist because I feel like it’s all encompassing and I feel like every bit of my art is related to the other,” she said.
“So do I want to pursue my music further and see it come to fruition and see something further and see something palpable? Absolutely. Do I want to say that was an official release? No, it was an Instagram post.”

Asked what her father would think of her foray into music, Frances replied: “I don’t have an answer for that because I don’t want to speak on someone else’s behalf. I would hope that he would be proud of the human being I am even if he didn’t like the art I am putting out. That’s all I would ask of anyone in my life.”
Tributes were paid to Cobain last week on the 24th anniversary of the iconic singer’s death. The Nirvana frontman took his own life at his own home in Seattle, Washington on April 5, 1994 at the age of 27.
Posting on Twitter, Cobain’s widow Courtney Love shared a heartfelt photo of her late husband, alongside their daughter Frances Bean. “The universe always rips open on this day, those ocean blue eyes. We miss you”, she wrote.
