Let's go back to Bricksburg...

A second trailer has arrived ahead of the upcoming release of The Lego Movie 2. Check it out below.

The first teaser dropped back in the summer, showing Bricksburg five years after it turned into a Mad Max-style wasteland following “the horrific events of Taco Tuesday”.

The follow-up trailer gives a glimpse of what’s in store with the threat from the DUPLO invaders from outer space, as Emmet (Chris Pratt) returns to rescue Lucy (Elizabeth Banks) from their clutches – with the help of space cowboy Rex Dangervest (a Star-Lord/Owen Grady spoof also voiced by Pratt) and his pet velociraptor.

The movie’s producers (Dan Lin and Chris McKay) previously revealed in an interview that the sequel would tackle gender issues – adding that the first film was told from the perspective of eight-year-old Finn, and was a representation of how gender bias is instilled in children from a young age.

Released in 2014 , The Lego Movie was a surprise smash for Warner Bros., raking in over $468 million (£301 million) at the box office worldwide. The film also featured Tegan and Sara’s hit song ‘Everything Is Awesome!!!’ as part of the soundtrack.

The Lego Movie 2 hits cinemas February 8, 2019.
