When Apple Music unveiled the premiere episode of Carpool Karaoke: The Series on Tuesday, things began not with a bang but a Boom! As in, Shake the Room.

The room was more of a car, actually. And Will Smith, the first guest of honor, kicked off the festivities with James Corden — why, yes, the host of The Late Late Show, from which this Carpool Karaoke viral bit was born — on a rendition of “Gettin Jiggy Wit’ It” before getting to “Boom! Shake the Room.” And Corden pulled out all the stops when he stopped the beat and came to a stop in the car as a marching band filled in behind them to accompany them on the rest of the rap.

In Corden’s between-song banter, he learned that Smith wrote his first rhyme at age 12 and released his first one commercially at age 16, 30 days before the end of high school. You might have heard of “Girls Ain’t Nothing But Trouble.” “You cannot beat your friends in high school knowing you have a hit record on the radio,” explained Smith, to which Corden replied, “In your yearbook, were you voted Most Likely to Have Already Succeeded?”

Corden pressed him on whether he’d been asked to play Barack Obama in a movie. Turns out, Smith chatted about this notion with the former POTUS. “He told me that he felt confident that I had the ears for the role,” quipped Smith. Smith even indulged him in a game of “Aww Hell Naw,” which involved Corden pitching him terrible ideas and Smith offering up his catchphrase. (“Guys, it’s movie night and I’ve rented Wild, Wild West.”)

You can watch the six-minute preview right here. To get the full episode (and Smith-Corden collaborations on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “I Believe I Can Fly”), you’ve got to subscribe to Apple Music. Two episodes will be released each week, and they feature famous guests like John Legend, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Seth MacFarlane in the driver’s seat, and Alicia Keys, Jessica Alba, and John Cena in the hot seat. If you’ve wondered what would happen if Metallica and Billy Eichner shared a ride and some tunes, this is the show that will bring it to you.
