Mandy Moore is back in the makeup chair for This Is Us season 2. Playing two versions of the same character — old and young Rebecca — the Golden Globe-nominated actress shared a behind-the-scenes look at how she gets camera-ready as the Pearson family matriarch.
“You know what’s happening,” Moore wrote next to video on Instagram. She added in another post, “Getting older is a lot of work,” as her team began putting on the makeup effects to realize present-time Rebecca.
“The first makeup test they did they took me to, like, 80! It was way too old,” Moore explained to EW of the transformation. “But she’s wealthy, I feel like she would have gotten a lot of facials and skin care for herself. So we ended up doing about five different makeup tests and it takes about four to five hours to put on the prosthetics each application. So it was a lot of time to sit there in my own head and watch the transformation. But we finally nailed it.”

This Is Us season 2 will premiere this fall on NBC. Moore previously teased a “huge piece of the puzzle” surrounding Jack’s death will be revealed in the first episode. According to creator Dan Fogelman, that mystery will play out over the course of the season.
