EW has unloosed from the jaws of Discovery the schedule for the next edition of Shark Week, and that eight-day marathon of sharks, sharks, and more sharks will offer up a shiver of 18 programs after it breaches on July 23.

Record-munching Olympian Michael Phelps will anchor two specials, one in which he tries to take a shark to school by racing it, and another in which he goes to school, or rather, the Bimini Shark Lab, where he’ll learn all about the fearsome predator. There’s also a program that examines a showdown between sharks and crocodiles in Australia, and another Down Under-set one that will make a visit to the Isle of Jaws to study the Great White. There’s an edition of Alien Sharks that examines something chillingly called the goblin shark — and whose title makes a pun off Stranger Things. (Alien Sharks: Stranger Fins. It was there for the taking, and they took it).

Eli Roth will return to host five installments of wrap-up-and-preview show Shark After Dark. Oh, and if you thought this year’s installment of Shark Week surely would have no connection to Sex and the City, you have gambled unwisely. There are two specials titled Sharks and the City: L.A., and Sharks and the City: New York, with the latter being narrated by Chris “Mr. Big” Noth.

SUNDAY, JULY 23
Great White Shark Serial Killer Lives (7 p.m. ET/PT)

For those shark fans who can’t wait until July 23 for Shark Week to begin, Discovery has teamed up with Fathom Events for a one-night event on July 18. Shark Week at the Movies will premiere Return to the Isle of Jaws and screen Return of the Monster Mako from Shark Week 2016 in various movie theaters across the U.S.
