Why we're excited about the new comedy from ABC
What is The Mayor about?
The Mayor is a new comedy show where Courtney Rose (Brandon Micheal Hall) is a struggling young rapper trying to break into the music industry. He runs for mayor of his hometown in California as a publicity stunt and accidentally gets elected. He now needs the help of his mum, Dina (Yvette Nicole Brown) friends Jermaine (Bernard David Jones) and TK (Marcel Spears) as well as political expert Valentina (Lea Michele) as he tries to do the right thing for the city that elected him.
The Mayor is produced by Daveed Diggs who picked up a Tony for Hamilton and is written (and produced) by Jeremy Bronson who worked on The Mindy Project, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Speechless.
