East Coast quartet put their dreams in their music — and it's paid off on their debut album.

Homebase: Philadelphia, PA

Hometown: Three of us live on the Jersey Shore. I lived outside of Philly.

How did you guys get together to form a band?

Kevin and Sean are long-time friends. Kevin and Anthony played in an early band called Call Me King, and Kevin met me through mutual musicians. Kevin pretty much picked members he felt he could make music he enjoyed with.

Were you all musically inclined from a young age?

Anthony's father pretty much forced music onto him at a young age, while Kevin and I have always been musical since their early teens. Sean actually just picked up bass three years ago.

Who are your musical inspirations?

We all have our own that lead to this point, but as a whole Coheed and Cambria, Saosin, and Erra provide contemporary inspiration for writing.

Describe your sound to someone who’s never heard you before.

A heavier alternative, or maybe a more contemporary post-hardcore.

What does Poeta mean?

Poeta is similar to the word 'poet' so we liked it, and Kevin and Sean found the name on and gravestone days later so we thought it was fate.

Does living on the East Coast influence your music at all?

We grew up mostly by the Jersey Shore and playing in that scene. Coheed, Senses Fail, The Bouncing Souls, and bands like that have really had a big part in the local Jersey music scene making it what it is today.

Who would you love to collaborate with?

We currently have collaborated with Matthew Schuler, star of the Voice, and he has been nothing but positive. We would probably love to have our music ripped apart by Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and see what he had to say.

What’s your craziest band story so far?

Not too long ago we played with a band called Serious Matters. We live about an hour away from them, and as soon as they found out we were playing another show they all came down to see us after just meeting them. By far one of the most humbling gestures we've experienced so far. Also, Sean's mom bakes him “good luck” cookies before every show.

What is the album name Golden Fields inspired by?

It’s from the title track “Golden Fields,” which is about envisioning that perfect place in your life and where you want to get to. The picture is an actual field in Idaho Anthony stumbled on years prior.

If you were a hashtag, what would you be?

#FullLengthNOTanEP

Do you guys remember the first song you ever wrote?

The first song we wrote was called "Daytripper." an acoustic version is actually on our album. The song was about leaving where you are now and going out to explore the world as well as yourself.

Tell us a Myspace story — since you’re musicians, you must have one!

When we were about 17, The Sound of Animals Fighting requested to be Anthony's friend on Myspace and they’re now one of his favorite bands. Also in all of Sean’s Myspace pictures he used to hide a Lego and the first person to find it would receive free packs of gum from it at school.
