British DJ and producer Corey James, who just released his festival-ready single "Bring It," is all about making sure his electro-house mix will make you DANCE, motherfucker, DANCE. Despite the obvious intent of the song, you can’t help but just get your game on when you hear it. In his mid-20s, the young up-and-coming producer joined the diverse roster of Nicky Romero's Protocol Recordings and brought with him a high-energy, crowd-pleasing aesthetic. He talks to Myspace about how he got started DJing, his inspirations and his favorite gigs around the world.

What was your first EDM experience?

I went to the Cream nightclub at Nation in Liverpool. Steve Angello, Third Party, and many more acts were playing that night. It was such an amazing experience listening and feeling the music live that right after I made a goal for myself to learn and produce electronic music.

When did you realize you wanted to DJ?

I started producing before DJing actually. I first played at some small local club about three years ago.

Did you play instruments before you started producing?

As far as musical instruments go, I only ever played one instrument — drums, when I was about 15-16. Haven’t touched them for about four years now but I definitely miss playing. All my time and energy is spent in the studio now and on tour.

What do you like better, DJing or producing better?

I like both just as much, I love having the freedom to sit and make something from scratch while producing though.

Who would you love to collaborate with?

Steve Angello, Eric Prydz, Axwell & Ingrosso, Dirty South would be some dream collabs of mine! I’ve looked up to all of these producers for a while now and think that’s definitely something to strive for.

Whose songs do you love to remix?

I’m pretty flexible when it comes to remixes, it’s a great way to find new and creative sounds. Remixes always helped me with new ideas and developing my sound. There is a very special one coming in May, but that’s about all I can share right now.

Who are your musical inspirations?

I have so many! Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Swedish House Mafia, Eric Prydz, Tom Staar, Mark Knight, Dirty South. That’s just a few.

Gimme your craziest DJ story.

A dancer once fell and landed on the CD decks and snapped my USB while I was playing, which set it into an emergency loop. Luckily I had my spare already in deck 2 ready to go haha!

How would you describe your style of music to someone who'd never heard you before?

Hmmm … it varies, sometimes festival or big room material, but other times it can be relaxing “Spotify Playlist" music. I like to constantly switch it up, keeping the listeners and fans interested.

If you were a hashtag, what would it be?

I never really use hashtags, to be honest ... right now if I was to be one it would be - #BringIt, feeling pretty motivated in the studio! [Laughs]

What's your favorite place on earth to play?

I love DJing all over, it’s always great to play in new countries. My favorite so far would probably be Creamfields in the UK, just because it’s my home festival and that was really special to me. Miami is also amazing.
