Binge the shows no one's watching, before everyone else catches on

Marco Polo

Netflix's well intentioned answer to Game of Thrones. Matching magic with history, Marco Polo delivers on its compelling look at the Mongolian empire.

Cancelled prematurely in my opinion, Marco Polo should be watched if for nothing else but for its cinematography. The production doesn't skimp on details — it certainly didn't skimp on budget either (rumor has it that Netflix took a $200 million dollar loss on the series). The intention was to make Marco Polo their biggest original show, and despite its cancellation, their result was spectacular.

BoJack Horseman

Don't let the anthropomorphic horse fool you; BoJack Horseman is hardly a comedy. More so, it's a deeply introspective look at modern day depression, anxiety and Hollywood.

Maybe though we need to deal with these issues through the lens of animation. Ironically, it makes the show's themes more approachable, by conveying them through something so outwardly absurdist.
