Now going into the Upside Down can happen on a mobile device.
Stranger Things released an app Wednesday that includes background music reminiscent of Pokémon games for Game Boy Color.
Titled “Stranger Things: The Game,” the free app by BonusXP, Inc. allows users to explore Hawkins, Indiana, solve puzzles with unique abilities of each character, collect Eggos and Gnomes, and compete with friends’ Speed Run times on leaderboards and social media.
The show’s official Twitter account posted a set of links to the app along with a 30-second preview of gameplay. “*do do do do do do do do* Stranger Things: The Game,” the tweet read, referencing the incredible background music. The game is available for your smartphone, though the gameplay preview appears as if the creators wanted to give it a retro feel to fit the show’s 1984 setting.
