Southern band plays alt-rock that's inspired by live energy, competition and Ryan Adams

Hometown: Wellington, Kentucky

Homebase: Nashville, Tennessee

How did you meet your bandmates and what made you want to play music together?

I met Austin and Nick while working at country club in Nashville. I met Gianni through some mutual friends in L.A. We all just left different bands and then got together to play one time. From there, we knew we had something special so we ran with it.

Why are you called Future Thieves?

The name Future Thieves sort of came out of no where and it seems like it's easy to remember. Not a whole lot of thought behind the name but we love it.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

I would have to say my musical influences are all the great stuff I hear today from bands just trying to do what we're doing but my main influence would probably be Ryan Adams. He's pretty much the reason I ever decided to start writing music.

Describe your music to someone who's never heard you before.

I usually just say give it a listen and see for yourself. It's free now a days isn't it?

How does living in Nashville influence your music?

Living in Nashville brings out the best in your musicianship. It's not a matter of trying to keep up with everyone else, it's just inspirational to have so many people around you who love and cherish music. I grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere so I had music to keep me company.

Who would you love to collaborate with?

It would be a dream to collaborate with many people. If I had to choose it would probably be someone like Anderson Paak or someone like that whose music is totally different from ours that we truly dig.

What's the craziest thing that’s a fan has ever done for you?

The craziest thing that's happened to us so far is probably someone getting a Horizon Line tattoo. Ha!

Why release a live album?

We love playing live. We wanted something for people to hear that can't make it out to a show and still get that energy that comes across from playing live.

I heard you’re working on another album of new music as well?

Our next studio album is being written now. We have a really cool thing going just trying to feel out and play what we love to hear back.

If you were a hashtag, what would you be?

#sothisisBirmingham

Do you have an awesome Myspace-related story as a musician?

I actually discovered Ryan Adams on someone else's profile in high school and that pretty much changed my life so yes, definitely a good Myspace story.
