The alt-rock quintet discuss the latest EP, 'Working All Night,' and what's coming in 2017.

What's your favorite song to perform from Working All Night right now?

"Fault." It has a lot of energy and is always a fun one to play live.

You've said that you want your lyrics to make an impact. So how do you go about the songwriting process?

I want people to be able to make a connection with my lyrics, so I try to have this overlying message that can be interpreted in any way. I like the idea that what the song means to you is not what it means to that guy over there.

What is "In My Head" about?

It's broadly about a twisted viewpoint on what love really is. The character in the song has this struggle of figuring out whether the moments in his life with this woman are in fact real love, or if it's all in his head. He knows she is real and the intimacy was real, but he battles with the definition of love mostly.

What's your definition of success?

Getting to do what you love with the people you love every day.

You did get to tour with Ash this summer. However, if you could create the lineup for your dream tour, who would be on the lineup?

Arcade Fire and the War on Drugs would be fun bands to be on a bill with.

While the EP released last summer, any new music in the works?

Yes, we are currently in the studio as we speak.

What's next for HAWAI?

We're anticipating this year to be a busy one. We're gonna be on the road quite a bit so come and say hi when we're in your city. We'll be releasing new music too, which we're extremely excited about.
