The rock duo are ready to get into the studio and give us some sounds.

Despite the fact that Mojo Thunder dropped in 2014, The Peach Kings have been continuously bringing their music to the stage. They've spent 2016 touring with The Heavy and Cyndi Lauper, as well as doing a bunch of their own headlining shows. And the fact that they're doing it all on their own gives them that extra bit of street cred. With two EPs under their belt, they plan to finally get into the studio at the end of their current tour and work on new material. We had a chance to catch up with the rock duo and get to know them a little bit better.

Homebase: Los Angeles, CA

Let's start at the beginning. How did The Peach Kings get together?

Steven Dies: Someone suggested I check out her music so I actually went to her Myspace and listened to the songs she had up there and I was definitely intrigued. Then when we finally did meet, not too long after that, we sat down and started playing music before we even really had any conversations and we got hooked on each other.

You've been touring a lot for the past few months. How do you prep for being on the road for so long?

Dies: Poorly. Can't really prepare for touring other than packing properly and I'm not even that good at that. or at least I could do better.

Paige Wood: It's all about setting ourselves up to make good choices with sleep, exercise and eating right.

What's the most difficult thing about touring?

Wood: Just staying engaged after exhausting drives, playing shows and then meeting promoters and bartenders and then doing that same dance day in and day out. it's really easy to have a tendency to want to check out mentally. But it's actually great to have fans who have never seen us, or who have come out to see us again, come up after the show and express their love of the music. Definitely worth the effort.

Favorite song to perform live at the moment?

Wood: We do a cover of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" by Iggy [Pop] and the Stooges and that's really fun to play, Not only because people know that song but because we get to freak out on stage for a few minutes. We let ourselves become possessed by the spirit of that song.

You did a few dates with Cyndi Lauper in May and June. What was that experience like? What did you learn from seeing her perform onstage?

Dies: It was a wonderful experience, and it's hard to believe that it actually happened but we've had some fans come out to the some of these past shows who we first got to play for in front of Cyndi and they have become die-hard, which is amazing.

Wood: What we learned from watching her perform is basically that you need to stick with your vision of what it is that you want to accomplish and don't let other people try to tell you what you should be doing with your style or your stage in your performance or anything like that just keep it authentic and stick to your guns.

Mojo Thunder has been out for a while. Will we hear new tunes from The Peach Kings soon?

Dies: Yes, we definitely have new music in the works. We have been playing almost entirely unreleased music on the road for the past year.

What are the plans for the rest of 2016?

Wood: First thing we're going to do when we're back in LA is jump into the studio and start laying down an EP. We're also going to be focusing a lot on working with some of our friends who have made some of our amazing videos to create some more visuals for the new music.
