The Postelles' Dan Balk goes solo and channels the '70s with latest single.

Late summer vibes, bouncy synths and smooth, falsetto vocals define “Fleety,” the newest single from Stray Echo. In the vibe of Ra Ra Riot and MGMT, the song about a waning love melts Dan Balk’s vocals with a psychedelic energy.

"Our lips got stuck like glue," sings Balk, "and now I'm ill with the jungle flu."

Balk, who is also the frontman of indie rockers The Postelles, explained to Myspace that he co-wrote the song with producer Charlie Klarsfeld (The Vaccines, Branchez) in one day at the studio.

“We didn't have any crazy expectations for the track other than to just have fun and write something unique,” Balk explains. “The outro came about a few months later at my studio. We wanted to basically write a second song within the track. We just kept picking up random synths and instruments and I think because we put no pressure on the song to be anything in particular it became special in it's own way.”

We think it’s special, too. Listen for yourself below.
